Commercial Assistant Estimator

Position Summary: The Commercial Landscape Estimating division is the integral first point of contact in procuring new contracts for the landscape construction division.  This is assistant estimating position requires an individual who is very detail oriented and can communicate well with others.  The Assistant Estimator will use different software platforms to perform precise takeoffs and construct detailed pre-bid documents for wide ranging types and scales of work.

 Job Responsibilities & Essential Functions:

  • Establish connection with General Contractors for bidding updates
  • Keep current material pricing updated through commonly used vendors
  • Perform accurate and detailed takeoffs that can be used for pricing
  • Attend pre-bid meetings and other relevant gatherings
  • Organize bidding documents and plans
  • Communicate plan details and takeoff information with Estimator

Additional Duties:

  • Demonstrate the ability to contribute to the organizations vision and mission, act as a company steward of resources, interact effectively as a team member, and work in a self-directed and dependable manner.
  • Other duties as assigned from Project Estimator

 

 Job Qualifications

Experience & Education

  • High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent learning experience
  • College degree and or secondary training in job related field
  • Must be able to learn and complete all training requirements for the position

Knowledge, Skills & Attributes

  • Demonstrate good communication skills
  • Strong knowledge in the following software: Excel, Word, Outlook
  • Willingness to learn other estimating software platforms used
  • Strong understanding of landscape construction processes and procedures
  • Field experience is a plus
  • Excellent attendance punctuality, dependability, and reliability
  • Pleasant and courteous attitude
  • Ability to work independently and make independent judgments which impact the company and customers
  • Sound critical thinking and problem solving skills; ability to solve standard problems and seek guidance on complex problems

Irrigation Technician

Irrigation technicians will be responsible for installing residential and commercial irrigation systems. This position is perfect for people who love working outdoors and who enjoy working in a fast paced environment.

Requirements:

  • No experience necessary although previous experience is a plus
  • Strong ability to multitask and prioritize
  • Ability to work well with others
  • Ability to take direction
  • Punctual and dependable
  • Proficiency with trencher (Ditchwitch)
  • Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions
  • Be available to work overtime, and occasional weekends
  • Bilingual a plus

Job Duties and Description:

  • Report to superintendents /project managers
  • Work with an Irrigation crew to complete jobs correctly, efficiently, timely, and safely.
  • Excellent attention to detail and deadline oriented while working in a fast paced environment.
  • Ensures the entire crew is following proper safety and precaution procedures.
  • Responsible for general upkeep and cleanliness of assigned company vehicles and equipment.

Irrigation Repair Tech

* Valid driver’s license

* Insurable driving record (no DUI’s or reckless driving in past 5 years)

* At least 1 year of irrigation experience

* Low voltage wiring experience

* Familiar with 2 wire, and multi-strand irrigation systems

* Experience finding and repairing irrigation leaks

* Has strong problem solving skills

* Ability to work well with others and alone

* Ability to take direction

* Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions

* Punctual and Dependable

Job Duties and Description:

* Reports to Maintenance Manager

* Operates a variety of irrigation clocks

* Uses problem solving skills to repair hydraulic and electrical irrigation problems

* Uses multimeter and other electronic diagnostic equipment to test irrigation wiring

* Identifies irrigation problems

* Blows out irrigation systems when needed

* Frequently repairs pvc pipe, poly pipe, and drip.

* Ability to select and replace correct irrigation heads and nozzles

* Adjusts sprinklers to reduce water waste and ensure good coverage

* Ability to quickly shut off water in the case of a break

* Always uses correct PPE for the job

* Works carefully around electricity ensuring safety

* Excellent attention to detail and deadline oriented while working in a fast paced environment

* Always requests utility locates prior to excavation if needed

* Documents all work performed and all parts used

* Regularly digs small holes to repair underground irrigation

* Clearly marks and “closes off” any open holes

* May operate mini excavator and skidsteer on occasion

* Works with a maintenance crew to complete jobs safely, efficiently, and with high quality.

* Able to identify basic landscape problems such as irrigation leaks and dry or dead plants.

* Uses hand tools such as rakes, shovels, pruning saws, and loppers.

* Able to provide good customer service while job sites.

* Excellent attention to detail and deadline oriented while working in a fast paced environment

* Maintain a landscape to its full potential: Mowing, trimming, pruning, clean-up

* May operate trucks and trailers, zero turn mowers, string trimmer, backpack blower, mechanical edger, hedge trimmers, and other tools.
