 Landscape Designer and Sales

Position Summary: The Designer is responsible for securing new customers as well as developing methods to reach new potential clients.  As Landscape Designer, you will work closely with high-end residential clients to develop creative and comprehensive landscape plans, that suit their unique individual needs as well as conform to industry standards and practices.  From these plans, the Landscape Designer will develop construction estimates and help oversee the operations team during the project’s installation.  This position should have extensive experience with landscape design principles and installation practices, as well as a working knowledge of Autocad and a horticulture background.  Good communication and organizational skills area a must.


Job Responsibilities & Essential Functions:

  • Establish communication with clients over phone or email
  • Schedule meetings with clients and be punctual with arrivals
  • Site analysis and surveying skills are a must. Utilize tools to measure and photograph sites as well as surveying tools such as Zip Levels to identify grading and drainage needs
  • Efficiently create base maps and landscape plans in Autocad utilizing office standard graphic elements and line weights
  • Create client job folders and keep project information organized and up to date
  • Develop relationships with vendors and stay current with industry products and techniques
  • Develop detailed and precise construction estimates that will be used to install projects and perform job costing from

  • Manage all change orders on projects and ensure quality job integrity and adherence

Job Qualifications

Experience & Education

  • High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent learning experience
  • Degree in landscape horticulture, or related field

 Plant Buyer

Primary Position Summary: The first phase of this position will be to develop a comprehensive plant buying process that integrates the needs of the retail nursery as well as the landscape installation division. This position will deal with primarily shrubs, perennials, and trees. It will be essential to communicate closely with the landscape sales/operations team as well as the garden center management. The second phase of this position will be to manage the operations of the offsite nursery/staging area. This includes developing a team of individuals that will work in a support role to ultimately achieve the responsibilities and goals of this department. The integral purpose of this position is to innovate methods and procedures that will maximize cost containment and profit potential of live goods.

Job Responsibilities & Essential Functions:
• Procure plant material in a timely manner while adhering to
budgets and quality guidelines
• Establish relationships with plant growers and material
vendors in order to identify competitive pricing and highest
quality material.
• Stay up to date with regional/seasonal availabilities for
different varieties of landscape plants
• Maintain accurate tracking of plant materials by quantity and
location. (i.e. correct inventory of plants as well as
accurate identification of where plants are going to be used
and or needed.)
• Create a system to stage and mark plants for landscape
projects. Your team shall stage plants for projects prior to
expected installation date when possible.
• Ensure the efficient flow of plant material to the proper job
site as well as the retail nursery

This position must have a detailed understanding of landscape and irrigation installation practices to ensure sufficient time and resources are projected to profitably complete work. • Consolidate and summarize large amounts of information to
produce a competitive bid package.

• Organize bid pre-qualification information; develop and submit
RFIs; work with architects to ensure adequate knowledge of
project scope; and incorporate value-engineering ideas, as
